Patagonia’s Synchilla ( fleece jacket model) was the first to use the new Polartec fabric and became an excellent alternative to the traditional wool, down, or cotton layers that dominated mountaineering clothing in the decades before. Its quick drying, packable, lightweight and providing great insulation properties made it quickly to be a new trend into the world beyond the mountaineering community.
